Pneumatic compression devices (external counter pulsation)

Pneumatic compression devices (external counter pulsation) consist of compressive air cuffs which inflate to 40 cm H2O of air pressure intermittently and a base power unit. They act as a pump to improve circulation in the lower extremities and are often used as a method for preventing complications, such as deep vein thrombosis after surgery or trauma.
